I recently created this smoothie
recipe for a client that wanted to boost her health after weeks on the road
traveling for work. She had mentioned that it was not always possible to eat
the healthy food she would normally choose at home and was worried about some
of the cooking methods of the food she did eat as well as where the ingredients
were sourced from. This smoothie recipe is great for helping to reduce the
harmful effects of free radicals in the body and reduce inflammation.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries)
- 1 banana
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
Instructions:
-
Add the frozen mixed berries, banana, almond milk, ground flaxseed, turmeric, and ginger to a blender.
-
Blend on high until smooth and creamy.
-
Taste the smoothie and add honey if desired.
-
Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately.
This smoothie is packed with antioxidants from the mixed berries, which are also a good source of fiber. Bananas add natural sweetness and potassium, while almond milk provides healthy fats and calcium. Flaxseed is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids and adds fiber to the smoothie, and turmeric and ginger are both potent anti-inflammatory spices that can help to reduce inflammation in the body. The optional honey adds a touch of sweetness, but can be omitted if you prefer a lower-sugar smoothie.
